LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After a warm and humid start to our day, temperatures warm quickly, reaching the mid 90s with a feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees at times. Rain chances will remain low with only an isolated storm chance during the afternoon hours. Tonight, high humidity returns to the area as temperatures settle in the 70s.

Sunday will see scattered storm chances during the afternoon hours, though it starts out fairly quiet. Temperatures warm fast and will likely still reach the mid 90s prior to any rain falling. Rain chances increase starting around 2 p.m. If you miss out on rain, you will see feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees again.

In the tropics, we are monitoring Tropical Depression Three off the Southeast coast. Three is expected to become Chantal later today, strengthening slightly prior to landfall in South Carolina between Charleston and Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning. Otherwise, the tropics remain quiet through the next 7 days.

Locally, we will see a more typical summertime weather pattern set in heading into next week with daily hit-and-miss storm chances and highs in the lower 90s.
