BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Southern University’s Human Jukebox marching band will perform at the Essence Festival of Culture on Saturday, July 5, as part of Coca‑Cola’s “The World Is My Yard” initiative supporting students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The event will take place at 4 p.m. at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It will also feature the Emmy award-winning team behind “The Hidden Sport” documentary, which highlights untold stories of Black excellence in sports and culture.
Coca‑Cola’s “The World Is My Yard” program aims to provide HBCU students with access to scholarships, career development opportunities, and mentorship. The initiative also promotes student storytelling, giving young voices a platform to share their experiences and aspirations.
