Photos shared by an individual in San Angelo showed a building on Pulliam Street that was apparently swept away by floodwaters. The structure, which appears to be a residence of some kind, was seen in the area near the Roosters Chicken & Ro-Jo’s restaurant located at 1514 Pulliam St.
Concho Valley Homepage has received confirmation that the home was occupied by residents prior to the flooding. The family who was living inside the home told reporters that they evacuated while the residence was being flooded.
The house’s relocation comes amid severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall that occurred overnight on July 4. According to weather data gathered by West Texas Mesonet weather stations, rainfall totals for the last 24 hours as of 8:45 a.m. on July 4 are an estimated 3.33 inches on the Angelo State University campus and an estimated 14.46 inches 7 miles northwest of San Angelo on Highway 87.
The floods have led the National Weather Service of San Angelo and the San Angelo Police Department to urge residents not to drive on roads while the floodwaters remain. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office also notified citizens that a large vehicle has been mobilized to rescue residents in need of transportation to safety.
This is a developing story. Stick with Concho Valley Homepage for updates as more information becomes available.
