LAFD quickly contains fire near freeway in Silver Lake

Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department quickly contained a small brush fire that sparked Friday afternoon in the Silver Lake area, officials said.

According to the LAFD, the fire was reported around 2:21 p.m. near 2301 North Fletcher Drive. A 50-by-50-foot patch of grass had caught fire adjacent to the highway and was burning slowly uphill toward a nearby fence.

Crews responded swiftly and were able to prevent the flames from spreading. No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported, the department said.

Firefighters remained on scene to ensure all burned vegetation was fully cooled and the area secured. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and no further details were immediately available.
