Amber Alert canceled after subject of possible abduction is located

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for a 7-year-old boy that was abducted in Kern County.

Angel Wagner was last seen late Thursday evening, around 11:50 p.m., on the 1300 block of Sims Street in Ridgecrest, CHP said.

He was believed to be with 42-year-old Michael Abbott, according to CHP. Abbott’s relationship to the child was not disclosed, but the Amber Alert described the incident as an abduction.

A CHP poster displays information about an Amber Alert issued July 4, 2025.

The Amber Alert included Kern and Los Angeles counties, CHP said. It was deactivated around 3:30 p.m. after Wagner was located.
