LAFD quickly contains fire near freeway in Silver Lake

Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department quickly contained a small brush fire that sparked Friday afternoon in the Silver Lake area, officials said.

According to the LAFD, the fire was reported around 2:21 p.m. near 2301 North Fletcher Drive. A 50-by-50-foot patch of grass had caught fire adjacent to the highway and was burning slowly uphill toward a nearby fence.

Crews responded swiftly and were able to prevent the flames from spreading. No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported, the department said.
