Charlotte airport prepares for busy Fourth of July travel week

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte Douglas International Airport is gearing up for a busy Fourth of July travel period, with 925,000 passengers expected between July 3 and July 8.

While that’s a 2.5% decrease from last year, airport officials said travelers should still plan ahead for crowds. The busiest days will be Thursday, July 3; Sunday, July 6; and Monday, July 7.

To help things go smoothly, CLT recommends:

  • Booking parking in advance at parkCLT.com
  • Arriving 2 hours early for domestic flights, and 3 hours early for international
  • Using navigation apps to avoid traffic
  • Checking TSA rules and REAL ID requirements at tsa.gov

Nationwide, the TSA expects to screen 18.5 million passengers over the holiday.
