Rinse & repeat weather continues with few worries

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Weather worries will remain limited for the rest of this week and all of next week.  While a few isolated storms will be possible, our main concern will remain the heat and humidity.    

Severe weather worries?   Since most of the thunderstorms that develop over the ArkLaTex in the coming ten days will mainly be heat-driven, severe weather is looking highly unlikely.  Any issues that may arise with come from the gusty wind that pop-up storms can often produce.        

10-day WWI: Since our severe weather threat through next week is looking very low, I will keep today’s WWI at 2 out of 10.  Be careful in the heat.  Heat index values could often reach 105, especially during the 4th of July weekend. 

Tropical worries?  The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate that there is a medium chance of tropical development in the Atlantic near the SE US coast.  If by chance this system does develop, it will not be a threat to the ArkLaTex.  We still have some Saharan dust near our area, but its impacts are also looking minimal.
