
Severe storms hit Central Virginia on Tuesday, July 1, bringing high-speed winds and heavy downpours to the area. As a result of those storms, tens of thousands of buildings lost power.
As of 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, about 12,360 Dominion Energy customers in Central Virginia were without power. This includes outages in the following localities:
- Richmond: 3,806 homes and businesses without power
- Henrico County: 3,646 homes and businesses without power
- Amelia County: 1,955 homes and businesses without power
- Chesterfield County: 1,052 homes and businesses without power
- Hopewell: 573 homes and businesses without power
- Hanover County: 525 homes and businesses without power
- Prince George County: 467 homes and businesses without power
- Powhatan County: 182 homes and businesses without power
- Essex County: 92 homes and businesses without power
- Prince Edward County: 62 homes and businesses without power
At one point Tuesday evening, over 13,000 customers had no power — with more than 7,000 of those homes and businesses in Richmond.
