Man critical following triple shooting in Englewood

CHICAGO (WGN) — One man is in critical condition following a broad daylight triple shooting in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

Chicago police said the shooting occurred just after 12:50 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of W. 59th St. According to police, two armed men opened fire in the direction of three males near a sidewalk.

Police offered the following update on the victims’ condition:

• A 51-year-old male victim was struck in the groin and rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, initially reported in critical condition.
• A 50-year-old male victim was struck in the back and rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, initially reported in good condition.
• A 40-year-old male victim was struck in the flank (the side of the body between the rib cage and the iliac bone of the hip) and rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, initially reported in good condition.

No one is in custody concerning the shooting.

Area detectives are investigating.
