According to the FOX affiliate WDRB, a Louisville health inspector was investigating a complaint at the Kroger at 9440 Brownsboro Road near Gene Snyder when they found a live mouse and droppings in several aisles.
A Kroger spokesperson said staff immediately launched an enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedure.
“Additionally, we have engaged licensed pest control specialists to perform a full inspection and treatment and are increasing the frequency of their visits to the impacted stores. We continue working closely with the Louisville Metro Health Department (LMHD) to ensure all corrective actions meet or exceed regulatory expectations and are operating our stores in accordance with their recommendations,” Kroger said.
The health department has ordered the store to break apart the shelving and clean the area, and ordered the store to seal any holes in the back stockroom that might be harboring mice.
The Louisville Metro Health Department will conduct a follow-up inspection at the store later this week.
The investigation comes after multiple Louisville Kroger locations have had complaints involving mice.
