The last hopes of rain: Futurecast shows that any scattered showers and thunderstorms that develop across the ArkLaTex on Tuesday afternoon will quickly end Tuesday evening. We will see a partly cloudy sky on Tuesday night and plenty of sunshine for most of Wednesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely develop Wednesday afternoon as temperatures heat up into the 90s. Long-range outlook…a sizzling 4th of July weekend: The rest of this week will likely be dry. Upper-level high pressure will put a cap on any rain development and produce slightly hotter temperatures. Highs for the Fourth of July weekend will warm into the mid to upper 90s with the heat index between 105 and 110. Overnight lows will mainly be in the middle 70s. We could see a slight chance of scattered thundershowers return by the beginning of next week. Highs next week should ease back into the middle 90s as the ridge develops more to the east and west of our area.
