On June 29, officers responded to Lineberger Park in Gastonia to help bail bondsmen take 29-year-old Zachary Goldston-Wynn into custody. Officials said during the encounter, Goldston-Wynn was holding a child whom he threw before running away. The bondsmen reportedly lost sight of him behind a row of houses.
Gastonia PD said there was no mention of any injuries to the child.
K-9 Ozzy was deployed to track the suspect, which led police to a home under construction at 105 W. Sixth Ave. Police said the search spanned over three hours and four miles.
Goldston-Wynn was found in a crawl space at the back of the house by K-9 Ozzy. Officers crawled into the space to safely take him into custody, officials said.
