MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On June 30, 2025, the Monroe Police Department began a juvenile sex offense investigation that allegedly occurred on South 15th Street. During the investigation, authorities learned that an underage female victim reported that she was being inappropriately touched by a 71-year-old family member, who was identified as Larry E. Hampton.

According to court documents, Hampton arrived at the victim’s residence and asked the victim if their parents were home. Hampton hugged the victim and looked around the residence to see if there were any security cameras in the home. The suspect then allegedly inappropriately touched the victim for three minutes and left the residence.

Once the victim’s mother was made aware of the act, she called Hampton and asked about the alleged incident. According to court documents, Hampton laughed at the victim’s mother and ended the call.

Moments later, Hampton allegedly texted the victim’s mother and stated, “Call me. I am very sorry. I feel bad about what I did. Please forgive me please. I’ll never do it again.” Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Hampton, and he was taken into custody on July 2, 2025.

He was charged with Second-Degree Sexual Battery and Molestation of a Juvenile.
