ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — A Colfax man has been arrested in connection with a string of pharmacy burglaries across multiple parishes, following a months-long investigation involving several law enforcement agencies.

Kevin Dejuan McKinney, 41, of 425 Eleanor St. in Colfax, was taken into custody on June 3 on multiple warrants from the Jonesville Police Department and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. He remains jailed on a $41,000 bond, authorities said.

The investigation began on Aug. 12, 2024, when Lecompte police contacted Rapides Parish Sheriff’s detectives and crime scene investigators about a burglary at a pharmacy in Lecompte. According to authorities, surveillance video captured a man, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing glasses, a black hooded sweatshirt, black facemask, black shorts over black tights, and black shoes, entering the pharmacy around 2:30 a.m. after removing the glass from the front door. The suspect was seen placing bottles of medication into a black garbage bag before fleeing the scene.

Detectives soon learned of similar burglaries in other jurisdictions. On May 7, 2025, Jonesville police conducted a traffic stop minutes after an attempted burglary at a pharmacy there, gathering information that helped develop McKinney as a suspect.

Detectives and officers from multiple agencies — including Oakdale Police Department, Jonesville Police Department, Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pine Prairie Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lecompte Police Department, and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office — worked together to compare photographs, videos, and intelligence from related investigations.

McKinney faces charges of two counts of simple burglary, criminal trespass and criminal damage in Rapides Parish, as well as felony and misdemeanor fugitive warrants from Jonesville Police Department and a parole violation.
