Intel layoffs: Chipmaker announces dozens more Bay Area job cuts

(KRON) — In the latest round of Bay Area tech layoffs, chipmaker Intel announced dozens of new job cuts. The cuts, according to state filings with the Employment Development Department, impact workers at several locations in Santa Clara, where Intel is headquartered.

The majority of the job cuts, 57, were at Intel’s headquarters on Mission College Boulevard. The chipmaker also cut 49 jobs at its location on Juliette Lane and a handful of jobs at its Bowers Avenue and Laurelwood Road facilities.

In total, 110 employees were impacted by the latest round of Intel layoffs. The cuts, which were announced on June 25, are due to take effect on July 15. All of the layoffs are permanent, according to state filings.

This is the second round of layoffs at Intel in as many weeks. Last week, the chipmaker cut 107 jobs at its main campus in Santa Clara. Intel also has reportedly shut down its automotive section.
