ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) — A boat caught fire while docked at the Safe Harbor Sportsman Marina off Canal Road in Orange Beach, News 5 has learned.

According to Orange Beach Fire Chief Jeff Smith, the call came in about 4:17 p.m. regarding a boat on fire with two people injured.

Video that a viewer submitted to News 5 shows a boat engulfed in flames and black smoke billowing from it while another boat approaches and targets the vessel with a water hose.

According to a witness, despite firefighting efforts, the fire reignited several times, posing a threat to the dock and nearby boats.

According to Smith, the fire was extinguished at 4:39 p.m.

Two people were taken by Orange Beach Fire Rescue 2 to the Baldwin Health Freestanding Emergency Department in Gulf Shores with minor injuries.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol is on the scene investigating, according to Smith.
