EDEN, N.C. (WGHP) — A 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl are facing several charges after they allegedly stole a car with a 9-month-old sitting inside it, according to the Eden Police Department.
At around 3:03 p.m. on Saturday, officers came to the Draper Pool on 1722 Mill Avenue after getting a report of a large disturbance.
At the scene, police found that an “altercation” had taken place between several juveniles.
Investigators say that two of the juveniles, a 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, left the pool area during the altercation and got into a running car that was parked nearby.
A 9-month-old infant was sitting in a car seat in the back while the parents were standing at the rear, and the teens drove away with the child still inside.
Officers found the two teens a short time later on Maryland Avenue, as well as the stolen vehicle and the infant who was still in the car seat. The infant was not harmed.

The 15-year-old was taken to Juvenile Justice and the 12-year-old was released into the custody of her parents.
Eden Mayor Neville Hall told FOX 8 the pool was closed for the remainder of the day Saturday and also Sunday.
Hall said the city does not plan to take any additional security measures and said Draper Pool is always fully staffed and a safe place to go.
