Two brothers arrested for mass shooting at Fayette Day Festival

FAYETTE, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities announced two additional suspects have been arrested in connection to the mass shooting at the Fayette Day Festival.

Investigators said U.S. Marshals arrested two brothers, Michael Ross, Jr., 22, and Devon Ross, 21, on June 30. They were taken into custody at a home on Blue Creek Drive in Vicksburg and transported to the Jefferson County Jail to await their arraignment hearing. The two brothers were both charged with murder.

Jefferson County Sheriff James E. Bailey said Courtez D’Henry Damper, 20, was previously arrested on June 16 and charged with murder.

The shooting occurred during the festival on May 31, 2025. Investigators said Rayshaude D. Hudson, 22, was killed during the shooting, and eight other people were injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests could be made.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI), the Fayette Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continue to lead the investigation.
