(KRON) — One person was arrested for allegedly hitting a firefighter in the head with a rock in Vallejo on June 27, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
A firefighter from an outside agency was responding to an emergency with the Vallejo Fire Department near the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Redwood Street when a man allegedly threw a rock at the engine, hitting the firefighter in the back of the head.
“The rock entered the vehicle cabin and struck the firefighter in the back of the head,” VPD said. “Although he was wearing his protective helmet, the impact required him to seek medical attention.”
A Vallejo Fire Department battalion chief and a California Highway Patrol helicopter allegedly followed the suspect until officers were able to find them. A man marching the suspect’s description was detained, and a firefighter identified them as the alleged attacker.
The Oakland man was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail for battery on a firefighter and assault with a deadly weapon.
