(KRON) – For more than 40 years, lifestyle and wine magazine Wine Spectator has annually honored restaurants with “extraordinary wine programs.”
The best of the best are esteemed with the Grand Award. According to the publication, the chosen eatery has shown exceptional commitment to its wine selections and service.
This year, a Bay Area eatery — one that is not in San Francisco or Napa — has received this accolade. Wine Spectator says Selby’s has a remarkable wine selection that spans the world’s key winegrowing regions.
The wine director, Jaime Pinedo, said to Wine Spectator, “I think this is one of the best restaurant wine lists in the country that nobody knows about.”
In the affluent city of Atherton, Selby’s says it celebrates classic American continental cuisine with timeless sophistication. The restaurant currently has one Michelin star.
With an extensive list of different kinds of wine, the restaurant has a 20,000-bottle cellar.
Selby’s is located at 3001 El Camino Real in Atherton.
Multiple other Bay Area restaurants have earned this title before, including The French Laundry, Lazy Bear, Restaurant Gary Danko and SingleThread Farms, to name a few.
