Body pulled from Lake Michigan near 63rd Street Beach; Police investigating

CHICAGO — Authorities are investigating after a body was pulled from Lake Michigan near 63rd Street Beach Saturday afternoon.

Chicago police say the male victim was recovered just before 12:30 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Hayes Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the man and circumstances surrounding the death have not yet been released.

The incident comes just days after local fire departments issued a warning on the dangers along Lake Michigan’s shoreline.

At least 11 water-related incidents were reported over a short time span in mid-June, prompting safety concerns as summer activity ramps up.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. No additional information was provided.
