THIBODAUX, La. (KLFY) — For nearly 30 years, the Manning Passing Academy has been one of the premier skill-position football camps in all of America. Campers get the chance to train alongside the legendary Manning family, as well as some of the top quarterbacks in college football.
This year’s set of counselors includes Ragin’ Cajun quarterback Walker Howard.
“It’s been a great experience. Got a lot of great quarterbacks out here, and it’s fun to be able to coach all these kids out here.” Howard said.
Howard shared that having the opportunity to learn from the Manning family and collaborate with top college talent has been incredibly rewarding.
“These are the legends right here, and being around it is a very cool experience, especially with all these other college quarterbacks here.” Howard said. “Learning from them, seeing what they do, and watching all these guys spin it. It’s been awesome.”
Howard is entering his first season with Ragin Cajuns football after transferring from Ole Miss. Peyton and Eli Manning have seen his development over the years and hope to see him take more snaps with the Ragin’ Cajuns in the fall.
“Got to be with Walker a little bit, knowing him over the years.” Eli Manning said. “You know, he’s been a camper or counselor here a number of years. His journey kind of through the SEC, and now here in Louisiana playing. So excited for him that he’s at a great spot, got a great opportunity, and you know, looking forward to seeing him on the field.
“Walker has been here for several years and known Walker’s dad for a while.” Peyton Manning added. “We’re proud of Walker that he’s, you know, in a good spot there at ULL and looking forward to, you know, watching him play. We threw with him yesterday. He threw the ball really well. It’s pretty effortless for him, just natural, and I’m looking forward to seeing him get out there on the field.”
The Cajuns kick off the 2025 season in the new and improved Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium on August 30th against Rice.
