STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said a man was found guilty of killing a woman nearly 40 years ago.
The incident happened in November 1986 when Jacqueline Lard was killed at the Mount Vernon Realty Office, located in the 300 block of Garrisonville Road.
SCSO said forensic evidence collected decades ago at the scene matched to 67-year-old Elroy Harrison.
He was indicted for Lard’s murder in March 2024, and his trial started on June 16. He was found guilty on Thursday for second-degree murder, abduction with the intent to defile, breaking and entering with the intent to commit murder, rape or robbery and aggravated malicious wounding.
SCSO said a DNA analysis also linked Harrison to another incident where he killed Amy Baker in Fairfax County in 1989.
Harrison’s sentencing is set for Oct. 10.
