ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) has received reaffirmation of its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), ensuring the institution’s good standing for the next decade, the university announced this week.
The reaffirmation underscores LSUA’s commitment to academic excellence, resource management, and student success, positioning the university as a key player in higher education and workforce development in Central Louisiana.
The comprehensive review process began three years ago and required LSUA to demonstrate compliance with more than 70 rigorous quality standards. The university provided extensive documentation spanning its operations, academic programs, and student services. A central element of the review was LSUA’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Command Your Career,” an initiative aimed at improving student career readiness through integrated academic programming, mentorship, and enhanced support services.
Following both an off-site evaluation and an on-campus review, SACSCOC reaffirmed LSUA’s accreditation without requiring additional reports or follow-up actions. The university is scheduled to submit a progress report in 2030 detailing the results of the Command Your Career program.
“The reaffirmation process was extensive, encompassing nearly every facet of campus operations and involving faculty, staff, and administrators,” said Eamon Halpin, LSUA’s Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and SACSCOC Liaison. “Successfully reaffirming accreditation with no required additional reports is a major milestone, reflecting our collective efforts to maintain high academic standards and continuously enhance student outcomes.”
LSUA Chancellor Paul Coreil emphasized the broader significance of the announcement, stating, “Receiving 10-year reaffirmation of our accreditation without additional actions required is an exceptional achievement, underscoring the quality of our degree programs and the dedication of our entire university community. This accomplishment not only strengthens LSUA’s academic reputation but also supports our strategic workforce-development mission as Louisiana’s fastest-growing four-year university.”
SACSCOC is the regional accrediting body for more than 750 institutions, including 42 in Louisiana, responsible for ensuring educational quality and institutional improvement across the Southern region.
