(KRON) — Vallejo police found and seized a loaded, fully automatic pistol following a car chase, which ended when the suspect crashed into several parked cars on the 1200 block of Gateway Drive in Vallejo on June 24.
The chase began when Vallejo Police Department officers tried to pull over a gray Chrysler 300 with paper plates, which was allegedly driving recklessly near the intersection of Olympic Drive and College Avenue. The driver did not stop and sped away from officers, VPD said.
The Chrysler, which had one driver and one passenger, drove towards Griffin Drive and Mark Avenue, where the front passenger exited the car and ran. Officers continued to chase the driver, who also ran from police on foot after crashing the car and remains at large.
“Officers saturated the area and established a perimeter,” VPD said. Shortly after, a resident on the 2100 block of Griffin Drive directed officers to her driveway, where the suspect, who exited the passenger door, was hiding. The witness advised our officers that the suspect hid underneath a parked vehicle.”
The suspected passenger of the car was found, arrested and booked into the Solano County jail. While tracing the arrested suspect’s path, officers found two loaded handguns with extended magazines underneath a car. One of the guns was allegedly converted into an automatic weapon, the other had no serial number, VPD said.
A records showed that the Chrysler was reported stolen out of Oakland. The investigation is ongoing.
