LUBBOCK, Texas – The Mission Sisters of St. Francis and their Associates gathered Friday morning, June 27 at the Lubbock Detention Center to pray for all those detained by ICE.
The prayer vigil was held for all the recent arrests made my ICE, issues surrounding immigration policy, and especially for Sister Leticia Rodriguez-Ojeda, an Associate of the Franciscan Sisters.
Sister Leticia Rodriguez-Ojeda was taken into custody by ICE on Wednesday, June 25.
The Sisters are heartbroken and hope to raise awareness of good people who are being taken from their families and into custody for removal.
Brother John Bach Associate of Saint Francis Mission Sisters said, “she was taken into custody at a car wash by ICE, her pastor was denied visitation, and her family had a hard time getting any information consequently we found out this morning she has been moved to Dallas.”
Participants held signs reading “Join us in prayer for immigrant families and detention center staff”, “Pray for Immigrants” and “Justice for All Migrants especially for Leticia our sister.”
