INDIANAPOLIS — Two are dead and one is injured following a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Saturday morning.
According to the IMPD, officers responded to East 42nd Street and Mitthoeffer Road just before 8:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found three victims, all with critical injuries. Two of the victims were later pronounced dead.
A high-speed chase ensued following the shooting, and the pursuit began at E 42nd Street and Mitthoeffer Road. The chase led into West 16th Street and Winfield Avenue.
There were two suspects originally in the vehicle; the suspect in the passenger seat leaped out of the car, and police apprehended the suspect after they attempted to resist.
The driver continued into the near north side of the city, coming to a stop at the intersection of West 16th Street and Winfield Avenue.
During the pursuit, the vehicle reportedly went over 100 mph and hit an ambulance and another vehicle during the pursuit.
Police deployed a pit maneuver, and the vehicle reportedly crashed into a light pole.
When police asked the suspect to get out of the vehicle, he reportedly said he would get out after he “finished his blunt.”
“Two alleged suspects have been taken into custody, and we are not aware of any ongoing threat to the public,” IMPD officials wrote in a X post.
