
TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTAL/KMSS) – Texas A&M University-Texarkana now has one more reason to celebrate.
In addition to their steadily growing enrollment, the university has received additional funding allocated through part of the 89th Texas Legislative Regular Session.
According to a news release from Texas A&M Systems, Texas A&M System universities received a $60.4 million increase in funding, as a part of a $226.5 million statewide increase to support instruction, operations, infrastructure and research.
Texas A&M University-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander thanked the Texas Legislature for the university’s increase in funding.
“We are deeply thankful to the State Legislature, particularly Representative VanDeaver and Senator Hughes, for the significant funding increase,” Dr. Alexander. “It reflects their overall support for our unprecedented growth and ascendancy as one of the fastest-growing universities in the state, region, and nation.”
Through a press release from Texas A&M University-Texarkana, the university says they are currently in an era of unprecedented growth. The Summer 2025 term marked the 5th consecutive term of record enrollment at the university, and indicators point to very strong enrollment numbers for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester.
A&M-Texarkana currently plans to add a number of new degree programs in addition to expanding the university’s athletic department and increasing the amount of student housing on campus.
