Midsouth Development District Reintroduced at Lakeland Chamber Luncheon

The Lakeland Chamber of Commerce welcomed Anna McQuiston as the guest speaker for this month’s luncheon, where she reintroduced the Midsouth Development District (MDD) to local business leaders and community members.

McQuiston highlighted the recent revival of the MDD, a decades-old organization that had become nearly dormant in recent years. Under new leadership and with a renewed focus, the MDD now operates as a non-profit dedicated to fostering economic development across six counties—four in Southwest Tennessee, along with Crittenden County, AR, and DeSoto County, MS.

The MDD serves as a conduit for connecting local governments and communities with companies and investors, with an emphasis on building strong regional partnerships to promote long-term growth and development.

Also during the luncheon, Kevin Bailey of Fireworks City gave attendees a preview of the upcoming July 4th holiday and shared a brief history of his business, which has operated from its current location since 1978. Leaders Credit Union was featured at the Spotlight Table, and lunch was provided by Ain’t It the Life Catering.

The Lakeland Chamber encouraged small business owners and community members to stay involved and mark their calendars for the next luncheon, scheduled for July 23 at the Lakeland Golf Club. Those interested in collaborating with the Chamber are encouraged to reach out directly for more information.
