BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — LSU pitcher Kade Anderson was named the best pitcher in college baseball by Baseball America.
Anderson was the first to be named Baseball America College Pitcher of the Year by the magazine.
The LSU pitcher from Madisonville was also named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player. He received that award after going 2-0 in the CWS. He was credited with wins over Coastal Carolina and Arkansas and produced 17 strikeouts over 16 innings while only giving up six hits.
“Baseball America’s creation of a standalone College Pitcher of the Year award comes at a time when elite arms are under more scrutiny than ever, both by pro evaluators and the sport itself. Anderson’s season—durable, dominant and deeply competitive—set the gold standard,” the magazine said this about LSU’s ace.
Anderson finished his season 12-1 with an ERA of 3.18. He led the nation in total strikeouts with 180 over 119 innings.
