Gassville City Council approves street overlay projects


The Gassville City Council met for 90 minutes Tuesday evening with a busy agenda that included the approval of street pavement overlays within the city.

Gassville Mayor Jeff Braim shared the following recap after the meeting.

The Gassville City Council met for 90 minutes with council member Kenneth Smith absent. Under unfinished business Council took up ordinance number 2025-05 to establish procedures for the sale and transfer of lots in the Gassville Cemetery and a fixing a monetary price for the sale and transfer of said lots and was adopted unanimously on reading.

The ordinance will go into effect in 30 days. The price increase changes will be $800 for two lots or $400 for a single lot in the Gassville Cemetery. Under new business item Number one council ordinance number 2025 dash six. This is a purchasing ordinance that is in compliance with legislature statute authority for cities of second class.

And that was adopted unanimously. For three readings with the emergency clause passage, also with that ordinance. Council then went on to consider ordinance number 20 25 0 7. It’s an ordinance establishing fees for businesses operating the city of gas mill that was heard on its first reading.

Council then went on to approve our street paving projects for this year I’ll be submitting bids shortly for those, the majority of the street work will be done in Arkansas estates with Magnus Drive, Opportunity and Jeffrey Court among the streets in there to be considered.

Counsel then went on and approved a slight construction project. Mainly has to do with the wall separating the council and Community Center from City Hall. We will be removing a window from that area and making some additions in the council chamber side. I then went on to update council regarding the Municipal League conference and some other items regarding property at 2370 factory place.
