The incident happened on I-220 South past Watkins Drive around 3:30 a.m. on June 23.
Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said the victim, Mikayla Smith, 29, of Raymond, got out of her vehicle to check on an issue with it before she was hit by a car.
