KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A young Salisbury man will now face a 2022 murder charge after serving an unrelated prison sentence in South Carolina, according to Kannapolis Police.
On June 22, 2022, officers were called to a shooting on South Cannon Boulevard near Fairview Street, where they found 26-year-old Kenon Lamonte Jones of Kannapolis shot. Jones tragically died from his injuries at the scene of the incident.
Soon after, the then-18-year-old Isiah Michael Lobban of Salisbury was identified as a suspect. After consulting with the Cabarrus County District Attorney’s Office, arrest warrants were issued for 1st Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
However, Lobban was arrested on July 5, 2022, in South Carolina before he could be arrested in connection with Jones’ murder. Lobban went on to serve time for the unrelated charges in SC.
On June 25, 2025, Lobban, now 21 years old, finished his SC sentence and was extradited to Kannapolis, where he was served the two warrants. He was denied bond and is currently being held in the Cabarrus County jail. His next court appearance is set for July 29.
