A famous Malibu restaurant and bar is moving closer to welcoming back customers after the Palisades Fire and subsequent storms forced it to close earlier this year.
The famous Duke’s Malibu restaurant announced on Instagram this week that it is hoping to open its popular Barefoot Bar in late July.
“He’s not quite ready for his close-up… but he is getting there,” Duke’s post stated. “Mahalo for the love, the patience, and the aloha you’ve shown us through it all. We are hopeful that the Barefoot Bar will re-open in late July and are excited to see you!”
The popular beachfront hangout initially closed in January when the Palisades Fire shut down Pacific Coast Highway.
The restaurant survived the fire but was badly damaged when a powerful storm brought roughly 2 inches of rain to the Santa Monica/Pacific Palisades area a month later.
Images showed a significant amount of mud and debris had pushed through its doors and swept through the restaurant.
Duke’s said in an earlier post that they were looking forward to rehiring their employees and welcoming back guests.
