BUNKIE, La. (WNTZ) – A traffic stop involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) in Bunkie on Monday evening led to the arrest of a local man on narcotics charges, according to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 6:20 p.m. on June 23, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on an ATV being operated on South Cottonwood Street. The operator was identified as Travis Glenn Hagger, 43, of Bunkie. Deputies noted that Hagger was driving with a suspended Louisiana driver’s license—the third such offense recorded by APSO in the past five months.

During the stop, authorities say Hagger initially failed to comply with verbal commands and briefly resisted before being detained without further incident. Upon receiving consent to search, deputies found a used glass pipe commonly associated with smoking illegal narcotics, which Hagger admitted to using.

A further search revealed a small brown pouch containing suspected marijuana and crystal methamphetamine.

The assisting Bunkie Ward Marshal issued Hagger citations for traffic violations and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and booked on the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule II (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana)

Sheriff David L. Dauzat issued a reminder to the public that operating ATVs on public roads is both illegal and hazardous, as they are not built for street use and lack necessary safety features.
