All employees accounted for after partial collapse at NJ fruit and vegetable processing plant

UPPER DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WPHL) — Police, HAZMAT, and multiple fire departments are responding to a structural collapse at a fruit and vegetable processing plant in Cumberland County.

According to New Jersey State Police, crews responded around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Seabrook Brothers & Sons Inc. on Finley Road in Upper Deerfield Township. Previously, the incident was reported as an explosion.

In a news conference, Cumberland County Administrator Kevin Smaniotto stated that all employees have been accounted for, with one minor injury reported.

Smaniotto also said there was a “minor ammonia release” from the facility, and HAZMAT crews are responding.

According to officials, there is no threat or concern to people in the area.
