FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman died after being hit by a truck Monday night in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.
At 9:45 p.m., officers with CHP responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Shields Avenue, west of Dewolf Avenue.
Upon arrival, officials located a woman lying in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 20-year-old from Clovis was driving a Toyota Tundra when he was traveling eastbound on Shields Avenue. CHP says that’s when the pedestrian crossed the road directly in front of the vehicle.
The driver was unable to avoid the collision and the woman was struck. The driver stayed at the scene and was uninjured.
The identities of the two involved in the incident have not been officially released.
