NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — A 19-year-old man is dead after being struck by a train Tuesday afternoon in Normal, police say.
The incident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of North Towanda Avenue and Kays Drive. When officers arrived, they found a man who who had been struck by the train.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:04 p.m. by McLean County Coroner’s office.
An autopsy will take place on Wednesday. The identity of the man who died will be released at a later time after the coroner’s office has had time to notify his family.
The incident remains under investigation by the Normal Police Department, Amtrak Police, and the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
