June gloom continues Wednesday near Bay Area coast

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A fairly typical late June weather pattern continues Wednesday with marine layer clouds along the coast and stretching inland. Temperatures will continue to run near or a few degrees below normal through at least Thursday with coastal highs in the 60s warming to the 80s inland, while nights remain cool with onshore breezes.

An inland warming trend is forecast through Saturday as high pressure builds and 90s (only a few degrees above normal) become more common for the interior valleys, even as the marine layer will keep the coast in the 60s. We are not expecting any triple-digit heat.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect from tonight at 9 p.m. to Thursday at 2 a.m. for shoreline locations along the San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay. Minor coastal flooding of parking lots, parks and isolated coastal roads is expected during the nocturnal high tide. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

Beyond the weekend, as we head toward the first week of July and the 4th of July holiday, the weather doesn’t look to be abnormally hot. We can look forward to continued seasonably warm days with cool/mild nights that would allow the summertime coastal marine layer to remain well established.

Sunrise in San Francisco is at 5:49 a.m. Sunset is at 8:35 p.m.
