SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – With the risk of thunderstorms looking very low for the next week to ten days, the summer heat and humidity will remain our main weather worry.
Severe weather worries? Thanks to the proximity of upper-level high pressure, it is looking doubtful that we will see much rain from now through next week. That being said, severe weather is extremely doubtful. Our only concern to be mindful of is the continuation of the heat and humidity. With daytime highs climbing into the upper 90s later this week, the heat index will likely remain near or above 105.
Worry level: I will keep today’s weather worry index level at two out of ten, given the persistent heat concerns. We will see an uptick in rain chances by the middle of next week. Severe weather is unlikely.
The Blend of models now shows that part of the area could see more than an inch of rain, with most of that falling late next week.
Tropical Weather Worries? Still no worries for us in the tropics! The National Hurricane Center indicates that Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the Atlantic. It will move away from the US coast before dissipating in the next day or two. The rest of the Atlantic and Gulf will likely remain quiet during the next 7 days, according to NHC. Models indicate they may stay quiet for the next few weeks.
