(KRON) — Crews are battling a fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon at a large warehouse in Oakland, the Oakland Fire Department said. About 25 firefighters are on scene in the 800 block of Moorpark Street.
OFD said this warehouse has burned several times and decided not to go inside and fight the fire from the interior.
“This is a structure that has burned several times. Due to the condition of the building, this will be a defensive operation; crews will not be going interior to fight this fire,” OFD said.
As of 2:30 p.m., firefighters are making good progress on the fire, and it is “under control.” “The fire conditions are improving and smoke is dissipating,” OFD said.
No other buildings or homes are threatened at this time. No injuries were reported; no one was displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
