A citizen’s tip led to the arrest of a sex offender who moved and did not notify law enforcement of his new address as required by the law. Forty-nine-year-old Robert Eugene Goertler was found to be living in Midway.
According to information from Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, a deputy received a tip last week from a citizen that sex offender was living at an address on Arkansas State Highway 126 North and had not reported it to law enforcement.
After an investigation, it was determined Goertler had been living at the address for approximately five months without notifying the sheriff’s office he had moved.
Goertler was arrested without incident at the residence in Midway and booked into the Baxter County Detention Center where he is being held on $15,000 bond.
Goertler was convicted in St. Joseph County, Michigan in 2012 of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the second degree and served time in prison.
Goertler has not been assigned a risk level by the State of Arkansas at this time.
