Man says guilty of violating sex offender requirements

A citizen tip to law enforcement resulted in a registered sex offender being arrested and jailed because he had moved to a new address without notifying officials of the change as required.
Forty-nine-year-old Robert Eugene Goertler appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday.
He admitted he had violated the rules and regulations governing sex offender registration and was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail followed by three years-probation.

He had been living at a residence along State Highway 126 in Midway for about five months at the time the citizen tip came into law enforcement, according to the Baxter County Sheriff’s office.

In 2012, Goertler was convicted in St. Joseph County, Michigan of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct and served prison time.
According to the sheriff’s office, Goertler has not been assigned a risk level by the State of Arkansas at this time.
