What brought you to Sioux Falls?

Growing up around Sioux Falls, I was fortunate enough to see firsthand how special this area is. With family still nearby, it was always a goal to return to Sioux Falls, and I was thrilled when an opportunity presented itself to build and refine my litigation practice here.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

I have always loved the people of Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas. Additionally, the education, opportunities and entertainment make it an amazing place to raise a family.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Working with and learning from the leading legal minds in South Dakota is my favorite thing about my job. I also enjoy writing persuasively and advocating for others facing stressful situations. Every day is different as a lawyer, and that can lead to a lot of new and interesting learning experiences.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I have always been interested in learning about the past. However, practicing law allows me to use information about the past to help analyze the present and future. I was extremely fortunate to have teachers who helped me understand what practicing law would look like, and I finished college knowing that the law was where my passions meet this world’s need.

Describe your workplace in three words.

Reliable. Efficient. Experienced.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

I can name the U.S. president for any year since Washington took office in 1789.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

I enjoy volunteering through helping students and the next generation of lawyers. I previously served as an adjunct professor for a law school moot court team, and I have been involved with several high school mock trial teams. Whether it be through formal or informal settings, mentors have always played a key part of my life as I believe having someone to look up to is a key part in success. It is extremely rewarding to help others going through challenges that I have also dealt with in the past.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

It’s a long shot, but I’d love to see a professional sports team in Sioux Falls one day.

If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?

I would start a sports clinic that focuses primarily on basketball and baseball. I have always loved sports and the lessons that they can teach.
