LIBERTYTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — Reaction to the weekend’s U.S. air strikes on nuclear weapons depots in Iran has been coming in from Capitol Hill, including Maryland’s Sixth District Rep. April McClain Delaney (D-Md.).

The first-term Democrat praised U.S. forces on the success of their mission, saying it helped counter “the grave risk to American and global security.”

McClain Delaney said, however, she would have liked for Capitol Hill to have been briefed in advance so lawmakers could weigh in with their perspectives.

“President Trump really needs to sit down with Congress to let us know his plans,” McClain Delaney said. “In terms of both military and diplomatic initiatives to make sure that our Americans, our contractors, employees and military are safe.”

Neil Parrott, the district’s nominee last year for the Sixth District’s congressional seat against McClain Delaney, said the president “did what he had to do.”

“He used those bunker bombs to stop Iran,” he said.

Parrott added that U.S. foreign policy during the Obama and Biden administrations is largely responsible for Iran being able to develop its nuclear weaponry.
