Man sought in 2020 Fresno County murder case isn’t suspect

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man regarding the 2020 murder of Rosendo Herrera.

Deputies say 40-year-old Rodrigo Torres Ruvalcaba is not a suspect, but someone they need to speak with as he is related to the investigation.

On Oct. 8, 2020, Herrera was found by deputies in the 9000 block of Donna Street in San Joaquin after a homeowner called the sheriff’s office, reporting he was injured in front of their house. Herrera had suffered gunshot wounds and later died after EMS arrived.

Surveillance footage obtained by detectives revealed the vehicle involved in the shooting, which was eventually found on June 16, 2025.

Anyone with information regarding Ruvalcaba is asked to contact Fresno County Sheriff’s Detective Antunez at 559-600-8221.
