VANCEBURG, KY (WOWK) — A Lewis County man was charged after a child riding passenger on an ATV died from injuries sustained in a crash Saturday.
According to a release from Kentucky State Police (KSP), 39-year-old Adam D. Thacker of Vanceburg has been charged with vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle under the influence in the 1st degree (aggravated), and criminal trespassing in the 2nd degree.
The release said around 10 p.m., Saturday, KSP was called to the scene of a crash near River Street. A preliminary investigation found that Thacker was driving an ATV when he “failed to negotiate a curve.”
The ATV then overturned and ejected a child passenger, per state police. The child was transported to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. Thacker was then charged as a result of the investigation.
KSP was assisted by the Vanceburg Police Department and Lewis County EMS. The incident is still under investigation.
