OMAHA, Neb. – Southeastern director of athletics Jay Artigues has had a front row seat to all of the College World Series action, serving as NCAA Division I Baseball Committee chairman for the first time this season.

Artigues praised the job that LSU head coach Jay Johnson has done not only this season, but during his time with the Tigers. With their 5-3 win over Coastal Carolina in game two of the College World Series finals, LSU’s baseball team claimed its 8th national championship in program history and the second under Jay Johnson.

Artigues believes that LSU baseball’s success on the national stage benefits the Tigers and college baseball throughout Louisiana.

He spoke about that and much more during the WGNO Sports Zone post-game special following LSU’s national championship victory.

Artigues’ son, Champ Artigues, also serves as Director of Operations for the LSU baseball program.
