LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Showers and storms developed this morning around the area helping to drop humidity a bit. Through the morning, temperatures will rise quickly, reaching the 90s potentially by lunchtime. This afternoon, highs reach the mid 90s with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees. We will see scattered storms develop around the area during the afternoon and evening hours.
Monday will see more scattered storms developing around the area, breaking the summer heat in the afternoon. Temperatures will still reach the lower 90s before the storms develop, though we shouldn’t see the excessive humidity of the past few days.
The tropics are quiet and no development is expected through the next 7 days.
Next week, increased rain chances will help bring slightly cooler temperatures to the area. High rain chances arrive Tuesday with widespread storms. Heavier rain is possible at times Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs both days will be near 90 degrees. Rain chances back off slightly towards the end of the week, though scattered storms will prevent temperatures from getting too hot.
